1. “Hot Now”
Tab: As our membership grows, the
number of clipmarks posted in the Public can become pretty hard to manage. With this in mind, we created the Hot Tab as
a place for you to see the clipmarks, clippers and tags that are currently hot
on the site. “Hot” is based on the response
they are getting from the clipmarks community. The Hot Now lists are updated every other hour. You can create RSS feeds
for Hot Now. Currently, the Hot
Clipmarks are sorted chronologically based on the most recent pop or
comment. Soon we plan on making it so
that you can sort them by ‘hottest’ or by the time they became hot,
We have redesigned our home page to put greater emphasis on the
community of clippers who are out there clipping the web and stirring
conversation. Currently, the people that appear
there come from the Top Clippers list (only if they have uploaded a
profile image) but will eventaully come from the “hot clippers” list. The images link directly to each clipper's clipmarks page.
2. “Clipboard”
Tab: A place to filter the clipmarks
site however you like. While you’re
navigating the site you can click on a “follow” button for any clipper or tag
that adds the respective item to your “follow” list. Your “Clippers I Follow” and “Tags I Follow”
lists can then be accessed in the Clipboard tab. At the top of each of those lists is an “All”
option that lets you view a mix of clipmarks for all of the clippers you follow
or all of the tags you follow. In
addition to the follow lists, the “My Activity” menu in the left side gives you
direct access to clipmarks you have posted, commented on or popped so that you
are able to easily check if there has been any action on them. The Clipboard Mix at the top is a master mix
that includes any clipmark in any of the left side Clipboard menus. RSS feeds for “Clipboard” lists can be
created.
3. Double clicking inside a clipmark now opens the
clipped content in a new window so it can be viewed any size.
4. Left-side lists in all tabs default to “clippers”
instead of tags. We previously defaulted
lists to tags (like just about any other tagging site that I know of), but we
really want this experience to be about finding and connecting with people more
than tags. Just like with Blogging, most
people have a list of bloggers they follow more so than a list of tags they
like. We hope for the same phenomenon
with clipmarks and clippers.
5. Auto completion of tags as you type when you’re
saving a clipmark or searching for them (sorry we didn’t have this sooner).
6. The tags for each clipmark are now displayed
directly beneath the clipped content. Two tags are shown at a time with arrows that let you scroll through the
list of tags if there are more than two.
7. You can click on a link just under the “pop” icon
to see which clippers have popped that clipmark. You can click on any clipper in that window
to visit their clipmarks page.
8. Save button at bottom of each clipmark and at
bottom of the list in the middle column enables local saving via html. The one snafu we ran into was that Firefox
doesn’t seem to allow saving locally via a link in a web page. As you’ll see, we provide a pretty simple
message for a workaround so this can happen.
9. The design of the right side column has been
tweaked. Clip-centric functionality like
print, email, save, etc. is now accessible from a toolbar at the bottom of the
right side. Also, you will see there is
a “Link” button that provides you with a link to the specific clipmark you are
looking at so you can paste it somewhere.
