Clipmarks update...getting POPular

We just uploaded a bunch of new things to the site.  I'm a little worried that the collective 6 hours of sleep i've had this week will catch up to me in the next 10 minutes and i'll start to make absolutely no sense.  But, here goes...

The key thing in this update is the increased importance of popping.  As you can see, there's a new POP button that matches the new POPular tab in the header.  This is because the way that a clipmark will get added to POPular list is by getting popped frequently in a given period of time.

For example, you'll see that the default set of results for POPular is "popular over the last 24 hours."  This list will include the 20 clipmarks that have received the most pops over the last 24 hours.  There are two things i'd like to point out about the way POPular works: 

1. A clipmark being popular for a certain time period has absolutely nothing to do with when it was posted.  It's solely based on the number of people who have popped it's during the time period selected.  We feel strongly that an important aspect of clipmarks is that a clipmark is never dead.  This is because, at any time, it can get popped back to the top of the public for everyone else to see.  If it's worthy, it will get popped...and if it gets popped by enough people it can become popular.   So, it can kind of be like that t-shirt you bought 10 years ago that's been buried in a drawer somewhere...only to once again become your favorite (thinking that analogy might be a sign that i am, in fact, beginning to lose it).
2. A clipmark can remain on the popular list for as long as it keeps getting frequently popped...it can also get back on the popular list after it's lost it's popular status.  For unecessary analogy #2, this is similar to how an album in the Billboard Top 100 can stay there as long as it keeps selling a lot of units and can also get also back in the top 100 after it drops out (no more analogies i promise). 

One other change you'll notice is the change in the sorting options/interface for the results in the middle column.  Hopefully you'll find this to be cleaner and more effective at enabling you to sort the results to your liking.  Certainly some more work that needs to be done there, but i think it's a good improvement over the way it was.

There's a good chance i'll think of some other things to point out regarding this upload, but the main thing is that popping is the way we as a community create a filter for the best clipmarks.  So, if you l like a clipmark, pop it.   Our collective popping will create a POPular list should represent the clipmarks that everyone liked best over the past day, week, month and all-time.
